What's the best Summer Olympics event? (Discussion)

oLahav saidMon, 11 Aug 2008 20:28:04 -0000 ( Link )

Or to put it in better terms- which event is the most entertaining/least boring to watch?

The swimming? The fancy gymnastics? The cool judo matches?Or maybe the classic team games like basketball and baseball? There’s so much to choose from!

Is there anything you can’t wait to watch in this year’s 2008 Beijing Olympics?

Actually, I really enjoy the Beach Volleyball. I use to play it in my younger years so I find it pretty fascinating and entertaining to watch on such a high level.

I use to be called “South Paw” cause I was a pretty darn good spiker and I’m left handed.

I like platform diving, women’s and men’s gymnastics, and swimming.

I’ll never forget the Barcelona summer games because of the diving. It looked so amazing!

I love the majority of the track and field events, maybe its because I grew up playing such.

The opening ceremony to me are crucia and the one must watched program.

This years opening ceremony was the greatest in histrory and will not be duplicated again, kudos to China for creating one hell of a show for the world.

Swimming all the way!! Had 2 children in competitive swimming and know what it takes to achieve pb’s time and time again….understand what the training looks and feels like and the discipline required in the blocks. Am excited too to see the new swim suits and how they seem to be helping swimmers achieve world records. Like leChuck said-you enjoy what you know!!

I personally vote for the short runs (long ones get boring) and other track and field events, just because they’re pretty cool. Wish I could be that fast…

I also like the judo matches and other fighting events. It’s probably the most legitimate form of violence you get to see, it’s in the Olympics. And the platform dives and gymnastics are sometimes nice too.

I generally only watch the finals of the events, if I have the chance, because otherwise it would be too much. And the opening and closing ceremonies are entertaining.

And this year’s mascots are so cute! That’s definitely the best part.

I have to admit, I am also a fan of the Equestrian events. Although it’s broken up into three sections: Dressage, Jumping, and Eventing; only Eventing is the really really interesting sport to watch. No average television audience is going to realize the skill needed in Dressage unless you have a background in horses. But eventing, that’s FAST, dangerous, and quite entertaining. Unlike jumping where they horse can knock over the jump, Eventing is in a open field that can span quite a distance and the jumps are solid, they go through a water pit, scale steep hills, and so much more. Eventing is all about skill, endurance, speed, and most of all courage both in the rider and horse.

Too bad it’s hardly ever on TV.

I love watching the 800m and 1500m track events. Lots of tactics and position changes. Great for spectators. Swimming is also great to watch as you have to perform in every race or you are out.
